About
Kent Schnepp is a photographer based in the mountains, drawn to the edges of seasons and the quiet intensity of wild places. His work lives somewhere between the snow-covered pitch of a steep ski line and the patient stillness of a tailwater. Two worlds that share more than they let on.
Photography found Kent the way most good things do: slowly, then all at once. What started as a way to document days in the mountains became a practice of its own, learning to read light, to anticipate movement, to find the frame before the moment arrives. He shoots on location, almost always outside, almost always in pursuit of something.
Skiing has taken Kent to ranges across North America and beyond. He is most at home above treeline in deep winter, chasing the kind of light that only shows up for a few minutes and doesn't apologize for leaving. Fly fishing pulls him to the other end of the calendar, bringing spring runoff, summer evenings, and the slow bend of a river in late fall.
If you're looking for someone to document a competition, an expedition, or simply a place you love, Kent would be glad to talk. The best work comes from time spent in the field, and he's always looking for a reason to go.
